BA INTERNATIONAL ECONOMICS
NEW DEGREE IN 2023 Study Finance, Economics, Mathematics and a choice of languages or Computer Science. Languages available: Chinese, French, German and Spanish are available to complete beginners. Leaving Certificate H4 recommended to study non-beginner level French, German, Spanish. Either work or study abroad in 3rd year (or work in an internationally orientated company in Ireland – all subject to availability). You may study abroad in the 1st semester, and work in the 2nd. Learn how the financial system works – how assets are traded, international markets are linked, government policy decisions affect the economy and how financial markets respond. Why choose this degree? Be prepared both intellectually and practically for employment in the highly competitive and dynamic world of international finance. Use analytical tools – including mathematics, deductive logic and applied statistics – to examine problems and devise logical solutions. This degree is not suitable for those mostly interested in the accounting side of finance (though all students are recommended to take one module in Accounting).

B ED BACHELOR OF EDUCATION -PRIMARY TEACHING
There are two routes into primary teaching: the undergraduate B Ed route and the two-year postgraduate qualification known as the Professional Master of Education (PMEd) route (see the Graduate Studies website for details). The Bachelor of Education (primary teaching) degree and the PMEd are designed for students who wish to become primary school teachers within the Republic of Ireland (both qualifications may offer the opportunity to work in many countries internationally). Child-centred and active approaches to teaching are central to the Froebel philosophy and permeate the ethos in the Department. The foundation disciplines of Psychology, Philosophy, Sociology and History of Education form the theoretical basis for this degree. Education modules and school-based practice within a variety of placement settings feature across all 4 years, as well as a placement in the Gaeltacht for 2 fortnight blocks at Easter in second and third year. Graduates are eligible to register with the Teaching Council and are qualified to teach in primary schools in Ireland. As the Department is named after the famous educational philosopher, Friedrich Froebel, our programmes reflect his ideology by incorporating active, student-centred approaches to our teaching.

B. ED-BACHELOR OF EDUCATION PRIMARY TEACHING (GAELTACHT)
The Bachelor of Education (primary teaching) and the postgraduate degree in primary teaching (called the Professional Master of Education) are both designed to prepare students to become primary school teachers within the Republic of Ireland (both qualifications may offer the opportunity to work in many countries internationally). Full time, Level 8, honours degree, catering for those aspiring to enter the Early Childhood Education and Care sector from Leaving Certificate, further education or mature student paths. Those currently working in the ECEC sector may be interested in the flexible BA in Early Childhood Teaching and Learning (MH004). Why choose this degree? Those aspiring to enter the Early Childhood Education and Care sector from Leaving Certificate or further education paths may be interested in the full-time programme MH003. Why choose this degree? The programme is closely linked with Early Childhood Education and Care practice, and its lecturers are experienced in the development, delivery and advocacy of Early Childhood Education and Care. The unique partnership between Maynooth University and Early Childhood Ireland ensures unparalleled support in linking theory and practice for excellence in ECEC. Work placements take place in Tusla-notified Early Childhood Education and Care settings. Those working in the sector may use their workplace as their placement setting. However alternative placements are also required each year. Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood
Do you want to make a difference to the lives and educational futures of young children? Then follow your passion and explore early education with an internationally-recognised team of academics and researchers in DCU. This course will prepare you for a highly rewarding career, educating and supporting young children during a vital time in their development. The BECE prepares you for work as a professional in a variety of educational and care childhood settings, from preschools and crèches, to special needs schools and family resource projects. Theory and Practice The BECE degree combines theory with practical learning. You’ll learn applied skills through workshops, seminars and independent group study. This could involve working in the Lego room programming ‘Beebots’, or designing play environments for young children, or developing literacy sacks to support them as readers. You’ll also put your knowledge into practice during yearly work placements. BECE graduates are in high demand at home and abroad. In Year 3, you can consider studying abroad on an Erasmus programme, in Norway, Belgium or Hungary.

Bachelor of Arts
At the University of Limerick, we deliver an Arts Degree which is flexible and wide-ranging, offering 16 subjects in all. You can study a combination of subjects (as Single Honours or Joint Honours) from across the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences: from familiar arts subjects such as English, French, German, or History, to newer subjects such as, Digital Culture and Communications or Linguistics with TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). The UL curriculum is unique as it includes cooperative education/work experience and a study abroad placement as compulsory elements of the degree.
