It focuses on the medical aspects of physical activity, and the general concepts of physiology, medical science, nutrition, health, and related training.
Sports Science and Health is the scientific study of physiology and exercise science in relation to the ability of the human body to adapt to motion, movement, physical activity and health changes. This course covers a broad range of disciplines, focusing on the medical aspects of physical activity, and the general concepts of physiology, medical science, nutrition, health, and related training.
You’ll gain a thorough understanding of the identification, treatment and prevention of injuries that happen during everyday life, illness, physical activity, athletic training, and sporting events. The modules cover injury prevention, diagnosis, treatment and management, and also how illness and disease affect health, well-being and physical performance. Graduates can find work in both clinical and academic settings, with career opportunities in fitness instruction, scientific research and health-related areas.
You can opt to do a vocational skills module on a portfolio basis by the end of Year 3. Five academic credits are awarded for this module.
