The International Foundation Programme (IFP) is a one year programme run by the TU Dublin City Campus. It has been developed for international students who need language and/or academic preparation for further study on undergraduate programmes in Ireland. Upon successful completion of the programme and International Foundation Certificate (Special Purpose Award, Level 6, 60 ECTS Credits) will be awarded by DIT and you will be guaranteed a place on your undergraduate programme of choice at TU Dublin.

In this course, you can acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies you need to function as a high-calibre marketing professional, both nationally and internationally. You’ll be able to communicate and articulate a company’s vision, using digital and traditional marketing communication methods, and to design and implement marketing strategies and plans to ensure success. Students will be well prepared for a role on a marketing team, whether in a small firm, a large corporation or a not-for-profit organisation. The modules introduce students to the study of consumer behaviour, marketing research, marketing communications, financial management, international marketing, digital marketing and web design. As part of the Events management module, for example, student will organise an event on campus and raise money for a charity of choice.

This course will educate and train you to become a scientific analyst in the medicinal products and pharmaceutical sector, as well as related chemical industries. It will give you a solid foundation in the chemical sciences, together with a hands-on approach to laboratory work. Access to well-equipped laboratories supports the development of a high standard of practical laboratory skills. Specialised and industrially relevant modules in medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical processes and/or the regulatory environment of the pharmachem sector are delivered at all stages. The course is designed so that you’ll develop the skills and competencies required of a chemical analyst at all stages. On graduation, you’ll be qualified to avail of opportunities in the pharmaceutical, chemical, computer and food & beverage industries, state laboratories, environmental testing laboratories, and hospital labs and universities. Networking Technology is about designing and building computer networks and involves the physical installation and commissioning of networks and connection to the Internet. As a student, you will acquire the technical skills and knowledge necessary for a career in IT and computer networking. You will acquire a grounding in computer networking technologies, electronics, communications and web development, together with a knowledge of business operations and project management. This course has an emphasis on continuous assessment, and you’ll learn by doing and working with hands-on applications rather than entirely from theory. The course incorporates modules from Cisco Systems. Cisco is the leading networking company, and you will have the opportunity to acquire a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) qualification. They advise patients on the most appropriate spectacle frames, lenses or other optical aids based on their individual needs taking into account the prescription, occupation and lifestyle of the patient. They are trained to take the measurements required for the fitting of such optical appliances. Dispensing Opticians also check spectacles and other appliances to ensure they match the patient’s specification and meet the required standards. They advise patients on how to get the best from their eyewear and play an important role in aftercare and the maintenance of such appliances. Dispensing opticians play a vital role in providing the best low vision aid for partially sighted patients and the best fitting frame and lens design for children. They are also trained to advise on sports and protective eyewear. Subsequent to further qualification, they may fit contact lenses. Dispensing opticians are often involved in optical practice management. A career as a dispensing optician is extremely rewarding. It offers great variety and will deliver a high degree of job satisfaction to those attracted to a career in an allied healthcare setting, who have an interest in maths and science, relish problem solving and enjoy interacting with the public. All Optometry and Ophthalmic Dispensing undergraduates are required to insert drops, contact lenses and probes (with ocular anaesthetic) into fellow students’ eyes and allow fellow students to insert the same into their eyes during the course of their course. All procedures will be carried out in a safe, clean, clinical environment under the supervision of an optometry faculty member.

Over the three years, you’ll be introduced to the technical, regulatory and management aspects of pharmaceutical development and manufacturing. TU Dublin’s Learn+Work course in Process Instrumentation and Automation provides a pipeline of skilled in-demand work-ready talent into STEM industries through industry partnership. The programme blends the strength of a university education with apprenticeship-style work placements. This course is designed specifically to create work-ready university graduates in the shortest possible time-frame. Each year, students divide their time between full time study blocks in the university and significant periods of paid work placement with industry partners. Process Instrumentation & Automation involves the measurement and control of physical quantities (temperature, level, pressure, flow and many others) used in advanced manufacturing systems. Engineers use instrumentation and control to monitor and maintain processes for improved production, quality, and safety in manufacturing facilities in the Pharmaceutical, Food & Drinks, Water/Wastewater, Oil & Gas industries among others.

You’ll learn all the skills of sports management and coaching techniques, combined with the fundamentals of business and enterprise. This comprehensive course covers all aspects of sport and sport science plus finance, marketing, management, IT and event management. This enables graduates to work effectively in sports management and coaching environments. We have a fourth-generation artificial playing surface, a fully equipped gym, large sports hall, a video performance analysis laboratory and a high-performance training coaching space. Sports Management and Coaching students provide coaching and fitness support as personal trainers to the staff and sports scholarship athletes of the university, as well as coaching support to the primary school in the local area.
