Bachelor of Business (Honours) Sport Management (with international placement)

On this course you take a compulsory 2 month work placement at the end of your second year. This placement can be taken in Ireland or abroad. You then take a second placement in your third year, which must be taken overseas and is six months in length. Placements are usually paid and there are opportunities to work in many different types of sporting organisations – from community to retail to sport development to coaching. We assist you finding a placement that matches your interests. The expertise of the lecturers in AIT involved in designing and delivering the course is extensive – all staff teaching on the course have excellent industry and academic backgrounds. Many teaching staff in the department are qualified up to master’s degree and doctoral level; The excellent teacher-student ratios provide learners with unrivalled access to lecturer expertise; The B.B. ?Few traditional law degrees offer students the opportunity to learn law as well as how to run a legal business. Our lecturing staff have experience of this which allows them to actually apply theory in real-life contexts, such as real-life legal clinics, work placements and mock court cases. Interpersonal skills are almost as important as qualification in predicting success in the modern business world. This course will develop these skills to a high level, in addition to practical business management and legal skills like advocacy and legal research. Traditional core subjects are complemented by the opportunity to take advanced classes in a range of electives that reflect the challenges faced in the modern world, like legal technology, climate change, white collar crime and human rights law. Students will also have the opportunity to learn core business skills like entrepreneurship and management. Students will benefit from a one semester work placement which will help them to develop their practical skills and contacts. They will get to participate in the vibrant extra-curricular law related societies such as Debating and the Law Society. They will have the opportunity to participate in competitions against students in other colleges through Mooting activities that take place both in the modules and extra-curricular.

Advanced Certificate Emergency Medicine Nursing

Given the acuity of patients who present to emergency departments it is recognised that there is a need to develop additional clinical expertise among nurses working in the Emergency Department (ED). Following the programme, it is expected that nurses will be better able to critically evaluate and apply the required knowledge and skills to guide a comprehensive and systematic patient assessment to include prioritisation, planning implementation and evaluation of evidence-based nursing care. In addition, it is expected that as part of an interdisciplinary team, the ED nurse will develop enhanced interpersonal, management and leadership skills in the co-ordination and management of the critically ill patient in ED. The programme also provides for the continuing professional development of nurses through education, clinical practice, and leadership providing a pathway for the nurse to evolve not only professionally, but also personally which will enable him/her to fulfill their potential.

Certificate Access Programme

This is one-year access course equips candidates with the necessary skills, knowledge and confidence to progress to third-level education at AIT.
