MEngSc Mechanical Engineering (Manufacturing, Process and Automated Systems)

Our Mechanical Engineering (Manufacturing, Process & Automation Systems) programme is offered by UCC in response to sustained international demand for highly skilled graduates in mechanical engineering for manufacturing and process engineering industries. On completion of the course, you will be able to: show a thorough understanding of the principles and theoretical bases of modern manufacturing techniques, automation, and production processes; identify appropriate manufacturing systems for different production requirements and analyse their performance; apply appropriate technology, quality tools and manufacturing methodology to design, re-design, and continuously improve the manufacturing operations of engineering companies; plan, research, execute and oversee experiments and research projects, critically analyse and interpret data, and effectively disseminate results; work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team, be self-motivated, able to work independently, and demonstrate leadership.

MArch Architecture (Joint Degree between University College Cork and Cork Institute of Technology)

Our Master of Architecture programme is offered by the Cork Centre for Architectural Education (CCAE) in conjunction with the Munster Technological University (MTU). Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland This full-time course, extending over 12 months, has been designed to provide a qualification in architecture under the Building Control Act 2007. This qualification is required by the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland (RIAI) before starting a minimum period of post-qualification supervised practical experience in preparation for the RIAI Examination in Professional Practice, Registration and/or RIAI Membership.

MSc Food Microbiology

The MSc in Food Microbiology at UCC covers the breadth of classical and modern food microbiology, including food safety and spoilage; food fermentation; food biotechnology; hygienic production of food; the impact of diet on health; the molecular mechanisms of infectious microbes and the role of the gut microbiota in human health. The programme is a structured one-year full-time course that includes a six-month lab-based research dissertation. Our aim is to educate you to an MSc level in food microbiology, emphasising areas in which UCC engages actively in research, e.g. food biotechnology, food fermentation, food safety, and food for health. MSc Environmental Analytical Chemistry

The MSc in Environmental Analytical Chemistry is a one-year course designed to provide you with the theoretical and practical skills for employment in a diverse range of industries that require analytical expertise. The course curriculum consists of six months of lectures, laboratory practical sessions, career service workshops, industry-based seminars/workshops, site visits to industry and a six-month research project (industry, research institute, aboard). The curriculum has been developed with input from staff in the chemistry department and also by the industry advisory board, to provide you with the necessary skills required by employers. Students have the choice to complete the six-month research project in a national or international industry or university environment. They also have the opportunity to present their research at the annual George Guilbault Symposium that is sponsored by industry with a number of awards being presented to students at this event.

BE (Hons) Energy Engineering

The first year of the BE is a broad education in engineering fundamentals. At the end of the first year, you can choose to enter Energy Engineering. Your chosen area of specialization in the second year will also offer routes to further branches of engineering at the Masters level.
