This growth nationally and internationally has been fuelled by the increase in the number, size and sophistication of events. Ireland has a thriving events sector which hosts exciting and varied events and festivals throughout the year. In this four-year course, you’ll acquire practical and theoretical skills in all aspects of event management. You’ll become knowledgeable in areas such as event planning and design, marketing, sponsorship, staging and health and safety. You’ll be equipped with the knowledge, understanding and professional management skills you need. As well as event-specific subjects such as Event Industry Studies and Event Planning and Production, you’ll also follow a broad business course with subjects such as Management, Marketing, Finance and Law. This course has three key characteristics: the acquisition of business expertise, the acquisition of professional competence in one or more languages, and the third year spent abroad in the country of the student’s major language. With increasing globalisation and dependency on international trade, fluency in other languages is vital to the success of businesses dealing with countries abroad. Students who successfully complete the course will be equipped to play a key role in companies and organisations seeking out new markets and/or expanding in them. The course is shared equally between the School of Languages and the School of Marketing at TU Dublin. You’ll study the full range of business modules required to gain an in-depth understanding of international business. You’ll also study the language(s) of your choice and acquire a level of competency in the one or more languages that you need to work in multilingual and multicultural environments. You’ll normally have obtained a minimum grade of H4 in the Leaving Certificate or equivalent in one or more of the languages offered on the course, currently Chinese, French, German, Irish, Italian and Spanish. You can also study a new language from beginner’s level and may specialise in it if you do well enough.

You’ll acquire the wide-ranging knowledge and skills you need to function as an effective professional, in a national and international context. This course is a business honours degree with a major specialisation in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. It consists of three strands: Logistics and Supply Chain Management (SCM), Business Management, and Information Management. To win in today’s marketplace, companies must continuously improve productivity, while lowering costs, and bringing quality products to market quicker than ever before. Innovative and effective SCM is key to gaining competitive advantage, reducing costs and making firms more profitable. The course will introduce you to business and management, with a focus on the function of the supply chain and develop your ability to apply SCM and business processes and functions to actual logistics and SCM scenarios. It will also introduce you to the basic concepts and functional areas of SCM and to place these in the overall context of the strategic objectives of the organisation. You’ll also develop strong technical competence and skill in the logistics, information technology and management areas, and raise your knowledge and competence in logistics and SCM to the level of strategic decision-making.

From identifying opportunities and generating insights to developing products and services to meet the needs of customers and communicating value inside and outside the organisation, the marketing function is crucial in today’s global economy. In this course, you can acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies you need to function as a high-calibre marketing professional, both nationally and internationally. You’ll be able to communicate and articulate a company’s vision, using digital and traditional marketing communication methods, and to design and implement marketing strategies and plans to ensure success. Students will be well prepared for a role on a marketing team, whether in a small firm, a large corporation or a not-for-profit organisation. The modules introduce students to the study of consumer behaviour, marketing research, marketing communications, financial management, international marketing, digital marketing and web design. As part of the Events management module, for example, student will organise an event on campus and raise money for a charity of choice.
